An Interview with Dr. Mary: Exploring Hypnotherapy Services

If you have ever been curious about Hypnotherapy but are not quite sure what it really involves—or whether it could work for you—you are not alone. Despite its growing popularity as a holistic healing method, Hypnotherapy is often misunderstood.

Dr. Mary, a compassionate and experienced Integral Hypnotherapist, is here to demystify the process and share how this gentle yet powerful practice can help with everything from stress and nervousness to chronic pain, confidence issues, and more.

In this Q&A, Dr. Mary explains what Hypnotherapy is (and isn’t), who it’s for, and what to expect in a session. Whether you’re completely new to the idea or considering booking your first appointment, this interview offers insight, reassurance, and a glimpse into how Hypnotherapy can support your personal growth and well-being.

Let’s dive in.

Dr. Mary’s Background in Hypnotherapy Services

Q. What first inspired you to become a hypnotherapist?

A. “Great question! I was never really inspired until I actually took the class. Let me explain. In Dr. Upledger’s model of Craniosacral Therapy, conversations, or dialoguing, is a key technique. Dialoguing was an area I was particularly “weak” in. So, I went to hypnotherapy school to become a better dialoguer.

As I did more research into the program at the Hypnotherapy Academy of America, I saw that Hypnotherapy was being used as a clinical support option for people struggling with pain and other visceral conditions. Then, I became interested. I saw how Hypnotherapy was able to shrink a 6mm and 8mm ovarian cyst down to nothing using no medications. The power of the mind and the power of thoughts really influence our health and wellness and our abilities to heal naturally, fully, and completely.

Learning hypnotherapy also filled in the blanks for me. In chiropractic school, we learn that dis-ease is ultimately caused by thoughts, traumas and toxins. Most chiropractors treat the traumas with chiropractic adjustments and physical therapy methods. Many chiropractors treat the toxins by providing detox programs and nutrition in their offices. Not many chiropractors treat the thoughts. This is where Craniosacral and Hypnotherapy can come into play in order to achieve full recovery. I have found in my practice that there is typically an emotional, mental, and psychological component to physical pain.”

Q. Can you briefly explain what Hypnotherapy is for someone who’s never experienced it?

A. “Absolutely relaxing and rejuvenating. You feel physically and emotionally relaxed but mentally alert. A key fact is that when someone is in a state of hypnosis, he or she activates their parasympathetic nervous system.

When the parasympathetic nervous system is activated by being in a state of hypnosis, in deep prayer or meditation, the body is in the “rest and digest” mode. The more we turn this on, the more naturally able we are to heal and restore our bodies. This is your natural right to do so. When you dedicate the time to do Hypnotherapy, you activate the healing mode of your body. You are using Hypnotherapy and the power of your subconscious mind as a resource for your own healing.”

Q. How is your approach to Hypnotherapy different from what people may have seen in movies or on stage?

A. “Hypnotherapy is completely misrepresented in movies and on stage. While no one wants to ruin anyone’s entertainment – just know that when Hypnotherapy is done in an entertainment setting, it is simply for entertainment alone. I love my share of hypnosis movies – Shallow Hal, Get Out, Now You See Me 1 and 2, Insidious 1-5 – simply for entertainment!

The fact is, Hypnotherapy can’t hypnotize you to do anything you don’t want to do. I can only help people do what they have been wanting to do but haven’t done yet because of a deep subconscious reason. For a terrible and funny example, I can only hypnotize a bank robber to rob a bank, not a person who believes “stealing is obviously wrong”.

Hypnotherapy is a holistic modality that focuses on discovering the power of your mind in life and in health and wellness. Hypnotherapy is empowering. Where the mind thinks  is where the body goes. “I think, therefore I am” ~ Descartes. With the help of YOU, we create the affirmations and the imagery together, because if you can see it, then you can be it, AND you can have it! It becomes self-hypnosis. UNLIKE entertainment hypnosis, you are in TOTAL control of the session. A hypnotherapist is meant to guide you down the path you are going. We try not to lead you to where we think you should go.”

The Benefits & Process of Hypnotherapy Services

Q. Who is a good candidate for Hypnotherapy?

A. “Just know, everyone has the capability to experience hypnosis. Being in hypnosis is a “conscious” choice. You can choose to participate or not. You honestly just have to have a mind. I think the real question is, “How can I be a better candidate for hypnotherapy?” which we can talk about in a later blog. Just know that if you want to do it, YOU can do it! And you will feel some sort of benefit or change from it in a positive way.

If I had to list some tips:

  • You have to be open to re-learning your past from conception to birth till now. There are no secrets. So, naturally, find a hypnotherapist you trust.

  • Before starting, try to forgive yourself for the real or imagined mistakes that you are about to learn in the process in a conscious and subconscious way.

  • Most of all, trust the process.”

Q. What kinds of issues or challenges can Hypnotherapy help address?

A. “Literally almost anything because of the mind-body connection. Hypnotherapy can help with emotional and mental support, including public speaking stress, test-taking stress, and fears like fear of  elevators, birds, or fear of death.

Additionally, Medical Hypnotherapy can be used as an adjunct to conventional medical treatment, including Non-pharmaceutical pain management, accelerating the body’s natural healing process, supporting fertility and reproductive health, complementing cancer treatment, and preparing and recovering from medical and dental procedures.

These are just a few to name.”

Q. What does a typical first session look like with you?

A. “I listen to what you are saying and what your goals are. As a chiropractor who works in urgent care, people usually see me for neck, back, and other pains, but they stick around because I do so much more.

It’s really a journey with me. I like to get right to business (or personal). I want to go right into your life story and see who you are. My goal is to give you “power of your own mind,” including the tools and resources to get where you are trying to go or be who you are trying to be. I will help you to answer the question: What is your truth?”

Client Experience & Outcomes of Hypnotherapy Services

Q. What do your clients usually say after their first session?

A. “My clients usually say that they feel lighter, motivated, empowered, loved, understood, and hopeful. I am always happy to hear when clients can notice relief from their chest and neck pain induced by stress after a session.”

Q. How do you help people feel safe and in control during a session?

A. “I remind my clients that they are in control of the session – always. I may gently invite you to let go of just 1% of anger or fear just so you can experience what it feels like without them. These emotions often present themselves as protective mechanisms, and we can thank them for the role they play. Overall, I provide a safe space. My role is not to impose, but to offer—support, presence, and possibility. Using the power of touch, I create a safe, confidential space where you can feel your feelings fully and begin to understand where you are emotionally and energetically.”

Q. What advice would you give to someone who’s feeling nervous about trying Hypnotherapy for the first time?

A. “Get to know me first. Give my chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, or Craniosacral a try. Hypnotherapy is everyone’s Divine right. It’s meditation. It’s prayer. It’s existential.”

Summer Wellness Tips from Dr. Mary

Summer brings so much joy, including barefoot adventures, sun-soaked afternoons, and popsicles on the porch. But amidst the excitement of swim lessons and backyard playdates, it can be easy to overlook what is happening beneath the surface. Just like we protect our kids with SPF and safety rules, their emotional and physical wellness needs just as much care and attention.

In this blog, Dr. Mary shares gentle ways to support your child’s nervous system, nurture their growing bodies, and create rhythms that help them feel safe, seen, and steady through the highs and heat of the season. Because a child who feels emotionally secure is more likely to thrive while playing, exploring, and resting.

Let’s make this summer not just fun, but truly nourishing.

Rest, Reset, and Reimagine: Summer Wellness Tips Inspired by Hypnotherapy

Summer can be overstimulating for kids—longer days, erratic schedules, and extra screen time can all disrupt sleep and emotional balance. That’s where hypnotherapy steps in as a gentle, imaginative way to help children reset their minds and bodies.

Drawing from A Hypnotherapy Bedtime Story, Dr. Mary encourages bedtime rituals that support emotional safety and deep rest. Visualizations, affirming language, and positive suggestions before sleep can help calm the nervous system and set the stage for confident, joyful days.

Summer tip: Try a nightly wind-down with guided imagery and soft breathwork. Bonus points if you read from a story that reminds your child how powerful, loved, and safe they truly are. A Hypnotherapy Bedtime Story is a gift not just to the child, but to you as the parent. Most parents who read this book say, “I wish my parent(s) read this to me when I was a kid.”

Massage & Movement: Summer Wellness Tips to Support Growing Bodies

From cannonballs to cartwheels, summer is full of physical adventure—but even healthy movement can lead to tension, misalignment, or fatigue in little bodies. Pediatric massage and chiropractic care support optimal alignment, reduce inflammation, and improve energy flow throughout the body.

In Pediatric Wellness, Dr. Mary explains how spinal health, muscle tone, and nervous system regulation are all deeply connected and how proactive care can prevent discomfort before it starts. Therapeutic touch also helps kids feel safe and connected, especially when routines are a little more chaotic than usual.

Summer tip: Schedule regular bodywork like massage or gentle chiropractic adjustments to support posture, coordination, and comfort throughout the season.

Teach, Don’t Just Treat: Summer Wellness Tips for Young Minds

Children are naturally curious—and when we invite them into their own wellness journey, we empower them to understand and care for their bodies. Dr. Mary’s books like A Chiropractic Story and A Craniosacral Story are designed to take the mystery out of holistic care, helping kids feel confident and included.

Whether it’s explaining what an adjustment is or walking them through how craniosacral therapy feels, these stories encourage healthy conversation and trust between parent, child, and practitioner.

Summer tip: Bring your child into the conversation! Read about wellness together, as a family, and let your children ask questions about how their body works. The more they know, the more likely they are to advocate for themselves—now and in the future.

Summer Wellness Tips for Staying Ahead of Illness

Scraped knees and sunburns get all the attention in the summer, but what about the hidden stressors that wear down your child’s immune system, disrupt their digestion, or throw off their mood? Prevention isn’t just about being prepared for emergencies; it’s about giving the body what it needs before issues arise. And that’s where Dr. Mary’s integrative approach truly shines.

In her book Pediatric Wellness: How to Care for Your Child, Dr. Mary dives deep into the connection between the nervous system, immune function, and overall vitality. She explains how even small misalignments in the spine or unchecked inflammation can lead to recurring issues like frequent colds, irritability, sleep disturbances, or digestive discomfort. And in the summer, when routines shift and exposure to heat, sugar, chlorine, and screen time increases, these imbalances can become more pronounced.

Summer tip: Don’t wait until your child is run down. Schedule seasonal wellness visits to support immune function and emotional balance, especially before travel, camp, or a big routine change.

Summer Wellness with Dr. Mary

For Dr. Mary, care is about more than appointments; it’s about equipping families with tools, knowledge, and confidence. Her services in chiropractic care, massage therapy, acupuncture, and hypnotherapy are designed to meet your child where they are, season by season.

Celebrating Freedom Through Personal Healing and Empowerment

In honor of Independence Day, Dr. Mary shares how emotional healing, nervous system regulation, and self-awareness are essential for personal freedom.

For Dr. Mary, freedom is more than a patriotic ideal. It is the ability to feel safe in your body, empowered in your choices, and resilient in the face of life’s challenges.

Freedom comes when we do the work to heal, grow, and reclaim our sense of self. Drawing from the themes in her books, Dr. Mary invites readers to reclaim their own inner independence by healing past wounds, breaking free from generational patterns, and building resilience.

What Does Freedom Mean to You?

We often think of independence as external or breaking away from constraints or outside control. But so many of us are still held captive by internal forces: trauma responses, chronic stress, generational wounds, and the stories we were told about who we should be.

Dr. Mary believes that personal freedom begins with awareness. When we recognize the patterns that no longer serve us, we gain the power to shift them. That’s the first spark of emotional independence.

Here are a few ways that Dr. Mary’s services can help you feel free:

Hypnotherapy

If you have ever felt trapped by racing thoughts, limiting beliefs, or self-sabotaging behaviors, hypnotherapy can help you break free. By accessing the subconscious mind, Dr. Mary helps clients rewire old thought patterns and unlock a deeper sense of peace and confidence.

It’s not magic; it’s powerful, evidence-based work that helps people finally let go of the emotional weight they’ve been carrying for far too long.

Using tools like hypnotherapy, Dr. Mary helps clients by creating a safe space to allow them to tap into the moment they created those limiting beliefs and identify that it is safe to let go of the emotional baggage they have been carrying. Whether you are struggling with fears, self-worth, past trauma, or burnout, there is a path to healing and feeling whole again… and it starts within.

Chiropractic Care

Your nervous system is the command center of your entire body, and when it is out of alignment, so is everything else. Chiropractic care gently restores balance, easing pain, improving mobility, and allowing your body to function the way it was designed to.

Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish; it’s revolutionary. In fact, healing can be a radical act of service. When we break generational cycles, model emotional regulation, and be present in our families and communities, we create a ripple effect that strengthens the collective.

Massage Therapy

Tension is not just a symptom; it’s a message. Massage therapy offers a safe space to release stress stored in the body, improve circulation, and calm the nervous system. Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, emotional overwhelm, or burnout, massage can help you reconnect with your body and experience what it means to truly relax.

While massages may seem indulgent, they can oftentimes be essential. Especially in a culture that often praises productivity over presence, massage is a gentle reminder that rest is part of the revolution.

Books That Empower Families and Children

Dr. Mary is the author of several thoughtful, educational, and imaginative books that help parents and children embrace natural healing with confidence and curiosity:

This powerful guide uncovers the science and soul of health for families. Learn about spinal development, the role of fever, the power of functional medicine, the second brain, and how chiropractic care supports the immune and nervous systems. This book is a must-read for families who want to take proactive steps toward vibrant, long-term wellness.

Through gentle rhymes and illustrations, this storybook helps children understand what to expect during a Craniosacral session. It eases their uncertainty by explaining this therapy in child-friendly language, making it a great companion for any family exploring alternative care.

Designed for parents and kids alike, this book explains how chiropractic care supports the whole body and not just for pain relief, but for immune, respiratory, digestive, and neurological health. A great way to educate and empower your family together.

This beautifully written bedtime book helps children drift off to sleep while absorbing positive beliefs about themselves and their worth. This book is a creative, calming story that speaks directly to the subconscious, where self-esteem and identity take root. It’s perfect for instilling confidence in today’s noisy world.

Embrace Your Freedom with Dr. Mary

This Independence Day, choose freedom, not just from the past, but for your future.

Through hypnotherapy, chiropractic care, and massage therapy, Dr. Mary helps people step into a new kind of independence – one rooted in health, clarity, and self-trust.

Summer Health Tips: Dr. Mary’s Guide to Hydration, Sun Safety & Outdoor Fun

Summer is here, and with it comes sunshine, pool days, and plenty of outdoor adventures. But while longer days invite us to get outside and soak it all in, it is also the season when your health and safety need a little extra attention. Whether you are headed to the beach, biking with the kids, or just enjoying your backyard, Dr. Mary has five essential tips to help you and your family stay well all summer long.

5 Summer Health Tips

1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

The heat can sneak up on you, especially when you are having fun. One of the most important summer health tips is drinking plenty of water. Hydrating is your first line of defense against heat exhaustion and dehydration. A good rule of thumb to follow is at least 8 cups of water a day for a full sized adult, and more if you are sweating, exercising, or out in the heat.

Here are some other ways to boost hydration:

  • Fruit & Vegetables: Fruits and vegetables like cucumber, lettuce, celery, and zucchini are hydrating as they contain 94% water! Summer is watermelon season by the way! A classic Summer treat that hydrates as well!

  • Chia seeds: Mixing chia seeds into your water adds omega-3s, fiber, and also provides slow-release hydration.

  • Make it fun! Infuse your water with fresh fruit or cucumber slices for a refreshing twist that kids love, too!

2. Sunscreen Is Non-Negotiable

Sunscreen is not just for pool days. Sunscreen is an important summer health tip as UV rays can cause skin damage, even on cloudy days or short walks. Choose a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, apply it 30 minutes before heading outside, and reapply every 2 hours (more often if you are swimming or sweating). And do not forget easy-to-miss spots like ears, the tops of feet, and the back of the neck.

Dr. Mary suggests doing your research when choosing the right SPF for your family. She  recommends Young Living’s Sunscreen, which comes in SPF 50 and offers broad-spectrum protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays. This product is reef safe, free from harsh chemicals, and great for you and your children. The highlight of Young Living’s Sunscreen is that it utilizes non-nano zinc oxide if you are looking for an equivalent.

3. Swim Safe

Dr. Mary’s dedication to summer and water safety comes from experiences that highlighted just how important it is to stay informed and aware. Growing up, she saw firsthand how quickly things can happen around water. After losing a loved one to drowning, witnessing a close call at summer camp, or hearing a friend’s story about getting caught in a wave at the beach she realized that water safety isn’t just about pools; it’s about being prepared anywhere water is involved.

Today, Dr. Mary uses those early lessons as fuel for her mission: to help families enjoy summer with confidence, knowledge, and the tools to keep kids safe while having fun.

Whether it is the pool, lake, or ocean, swimming is a favorite summer activity, it requires caution. Always supervise young swimmers, even in shallow water. Enroll kids in swim lessons if you haven’t already, and remind everyone (adults included) not to dive into unfamiliar or shallow water. And while floaties are fun, they are no substitute for a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket when on boats.

4. Protect Your Eyes with Sunglasses

Your skin is not the only thing that needs UV protection; so do your eyes. A summer health tip is to invest in 100% UV-blocking sunglasses for everyone in the family. Not only do they reduce the risk of long-term eye damage, but they help prevent that dreaded squinting that can turn a sunny afternoon into a headache.

5. Take Advantage of the Best Times to Be Outside

The safest times to be outdoors in the summer are early morning (7–10 AM) and late afternoon (5–7 PM). This helps you avoid the peak heat and the strongest UV rays, typically between 10 AM and 4 PM. Planning your outdoor play during these windows means cooler temps, less risk of sunburn, and more enjoyable summer moments.

The Secret to The Secret: Unlocking the Hidden Step to True Mind Power

The power of the mind is often misunderstood. So many of us believe we’re practicing The Secret correctly. We speak our affirmations. We visualize the life we want. We try to think positively. But still, something doesn’t click.

That’s because we’re missing a crucial piece.

This blog will go over what is really happening in the subconscious mind, especially in childhood, and why what we believe doesn’t always match what we receive.

I wrote this to empower parents, caregivers, and anyone seeking transformation. Let me show you what’s really going on behind the scenes, and how to unlock the power that’s already within you and your family.

The Foundation of Mind Power: Understanding the Critical Factor and Why Childhood Matters

  • Before Age 7: The Open Subconscious

Before the age of 7, there is no critical factor. The Critical Factor is a filter that blocks new beliefs from easily entering your subconscious mind. That means your child’s environment should be created with intention and care.

  • Ages 7–11: The Rise of the Critical Factor

From ages 7-11, the critical factor (that chatterbox that keeps your mind running all night) begins to develop. Whatever thoughts and beliefs are stored in the subconscious vault are very much protected. In fact, whether negative or positive, the critical factor protects the mind form anything that challenges those beliefs.

So, if you are presenting a new belief to your mind, the critical factor might not like it. If the information coming in contradicts the opinion of your subconscious mind, then that information will be rejected.

  • After Age 11: Resistance to Change and How to Overcome It

After 11 years old, it becomes harder to absorb new and valuable information, because of the Critical Factor. If only we can lower its guard so that we can have a moment with your subconscious mind. There is!

Let me show you 🫶.

The 3 Laws That Shape Your Mind Power

1. The Law of Projection

This is the most common law we see played out on an everyday basis. The Law of Projection shows us the power of the mind in  shaping our reality,  not because the outside world changes, but because our perception of it does.

For example, from previous experiences where feelings of insecurity were deposited (and we might not have even fully realized it), you may walk into a room and think, “Everyone is judging me.”

When in reality, no one is judging you, but because of your inner insecurity, your mind is projecting that fear outward.

2. The Law of Attraction

What you choose to consistently think and feel, you begin to attract into your life on a subconscious level.

The Law of Attraction is not “magic.” Just saying what you want to attract out loud, so everyone can hear it, is not enough. The Law of Attraction takes mental focus, emotional alignment, and subconscious belief to truly create reality.

3. The Law of Transfiguration

The Law of Transfiguration is when the information, beliefs, and feelings stored in your subconscious mind begin to play out through family and friends closest to you – kids, significant others, etc.

The Law of Transfiguration teaches us that the beliefs, emotions, and patterns stored deep in your subconscious don’t just stay with you; they ripple outward and begin to show up in the behaviors of those closest to you, especially your children and partner.

Empowering Your Family with the Right Tools

Your mind is a powerful tool! Let me teach you how to use it.

At my workshop, The Parent Empowerment Portal, taking place on August 7, 2025, I will teach you how to leverage these laws to create a positive family life and foster an environment in which your family can grow and thrive.

I will teach you the reality of the world and then show you how to reverse negative beliefs formed by  influences throughout the day in just 5-10 meaningful minutes. I am happy to share that I have helped a 5-year-old and a 13-year-old stop wetting the bed at night after being introduced to the right tools for their minds.

Q&A with Dr. Mary: The Parent Empowerment Portal Workshop

On August 7th at 4:30 PM, Dr. Mary is inviting parents and caregivers to step into a new kind of support.

At the calming, sacred space of My Flora Aura in Boca Raton, she’ll be hosting The Parent Empowerment Portal, an intimate hypnotherapy workshop created specifically to teach parents how to foster healthy behaviors.

Whether you’re navigating toddler tantrums or teen transitions, this workshop is designed to give you practical tools to create healthy habits at home and approach parenting from a more conscious, empowered place.

In this blog, Dr. Mary answers some of the most common questions about her upcoming workshop—what to expect, who it’s for, and why it could be the reset your family has been waiting for.

Let’s dive in.

Q&A with Dr. Mary: Inside The Parent Empowerment Portal Workshop

Q: What inspired you to create the Parent Empowerment Portal workshop?

A: “There’s a lot of bullying of parents out there these days in this healthcare field of ours, and I see that it is making parents feel inadequate, making parents question our own parental instincts,  making them feel like they are losing their kids to the system and social media.

I had a parent at an expo say to me, “Oh! Are you going to get my kids to listen to you?”, and I said, “No, I’m going to get them to listen to you.”

What do I mean? They are your kids. Not mine. Parents, you are an essential piece to their health and wellness. I just want to give you the tools so you can take matters into your own hands. Let me teach you.

Let me teach you how to guide your child into a state of relaxation. Science says that when the body is in a state of relaxation, the parasympathetic nervous system is activated. Known for its success for better “digest[ion] and rest”, this is the mode to be in for healing. I’m going to teach you that. I’m going to teach you about the triune model of the mind, so you can understand how the mind works and how to utilize it for yourself and your families.

Let’s get back to instinct, let’s get back to the basics, let’s get back to our roots and instincts. In this workshop, I’m going to teach you how to empower your children.”

Q: Who is this workshop designed for?

A: “All parents. Hypnotherapy is always relevant for any age, any milestone, any hurdle. It’s just “easier” to do before the age of 7. ONE MILLION positive thoughts per day.”

Q: Do I need any prior experience with hypnotherapy to attend?

A: “No, just have a goal that you are working on with your child and trust the process! This is a beginner’s class. Before I went to Hypnotherapy school, I had no real experience with it. I want you to experience it. Then I want you to understand it. Then, you’ll know how to use it.”

Q: What’s one takeaway every parent can expect to gain from this experience?

A: “Every parent will experience a guided hypnotherapy session using an easy way to guide their child into a state of physical and emotional calm at the end of the evening. I will teach parents the recipe for creating affirmations that will make their children successful in all of their endeavors – health or education. Every parent will leave with at least 5 affirmation cards that are working on specific behaviors that you are trying to instill in your child. Clarity.”

Back to School: Taking Care of the One They Depend on Most—You

As the school year gets rolling, we are often hyper-focused on our children’s scholastic needs — the back to school shopping, figuring out transportation strategies and other routine shifts as we transition to the first day of school, kids homework, planning after school activities and play dates… making sure they have everything they need so they can be successful. In all this motion, it’s easy to forget that our well-being matters just as much as our child’s.

Right!? What about you? Do you have everything you need?

Here’s the truth:

You are the emotional center of your home.

If something happens to you, … just think about that.

You don’t just need to be present—you need to be healthy.

This season, instead of focusing only on structure and success for our child, let’s take a moment to focus on balance and sustainability for ourselves.

Let’s explore four key areas we need to make sure we balance so we can maintain our health, strengthen the connection between us and our children, as we get back  into the back-to-school season:

Work. Play. Love. Pray.

WORK: Align with Purpose

Many parents are silently struggling under the weight of work because of the long hours or the never-ending to-do lists. There is a more important disconnect between what you are doing and our earthly purpose, which is the ultimate life fulfiller.

If you wake up dreading the day or come home feeling defeated, our child notices. They pick up on the tone in our voice, the look in our eyes, and the energy we carry.

When work becomes only survival, we subconsciously teach our kids that adulthood is something to endure, not something to enjoy.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

You don’t need to make a dramatic career change tomorrow. But you can begin asking important questions:

  • Does this work align with who I am?

  • Am I honoring my talents and purpose?

  • What small steps could move me closer to fulfillment?

Even micro-shifts—boundaries around after-hours emails, time blocked for creativity, or letting go of a side obligation—can start to create breathing room. We were not born to run on autopilot. We are gifts. We were born to bring something meaningful into the world. When you reconnect with that purpose, your child learns that work can be fulfilling, not just necessary.

🎈PLAY: Allow your children to show you the way.

Play isn’t just for kids—Play is medicine for our souls. Play reconnects us to our inner child.

As adults, we often forget the importance of play. We are so busy and tired at the end of the day, we view playing with our kids as an added chore instead of seeing ‘playing with our kids’ as an opportunity for ourselves to experience no bills and a fresh perspective.

Our child doesn’t need elaborate vacations or fancy outings. What they need is US, fully present—even for just 10 minutes:

  • Cloud-Gazing

  • Revisit a favorite park or arcade

  • Say yes to a dance party in the living room, which I haven’t done in a while.

  • Do a puzzle.

  • Paint the picture.

  • Build a Lego tower.

And most importantly—put the phone down. I know you were thinking it 😉. Let them feel our undivided attention on them, and allow these experiences to fill our hearts and minds. Don’t Facebook the moment… actually CREATE the moment, EXPERIENCE the moment. Let’s Go Ahead & fill our minds with these positive memories we’ve created,… so when we turn 70, we can close our eyes and reflect on them. You know… the classic scenario of our parents sharing these stories at the dinner table or at bedtime. That is TRUE joy. It’s not history, it’s Yerstory (“your story”). It’s how we learn, so we can heal and thrive generationally.

❤️ LOVE: Self-Love is Paramount

We love our children deeply. That’s never in question.

But here’s a harder question: Do we love ourselves enough to take care of ourselves?

Many parents run on empty, believing that sacrificing their needs is part of the job. Do you, fellow parents, remember the book “The Giving Tree”? Back in the day… it was everyone’s favorite…

Well, Parents, we can’t be the Giving Tree, we have to be “The Giving Tree that Keeps on Giving”, and to do that… we have to nourish ourselves – body, mind, and spirit.

It means:

  • Treat  yourself to a spa day…solo or with a pal or a gal

  • Get your Hair & Nails done

  • Go to the Chiropractor

  • Get that Massage

  • Sure, Acupuncture

  • Do mind health therapies – yoga, meditation, hypnotherapy

  • Do emotional health therapies –  in my professional opinion, Craniosacral is known for its Somatoemotional releases.

Yes—it means taking care of our health. Because when that quiet voice whispers, “If something happens to me…”—you know it’s a rational fear.

We are their world….And our well-being is of utmost importance. Period!

🙏 PRAY: Create Space to Come Back to your spiritual self

I will tell you now. When I am working on patients in my clinic, FAITH (not science)  is the #1 Healer. I’m not saying “religion”, I’m saying “spiritual” – God, Hashem, Universe, Higher Self, Inner Wisdom, Universal Intelligence… spiritual. It’s not just the absence of external noise, but a conscious quieting of the mind and body to foster a sense of presence and awareness… Stillness when in prayer, meditation, journaling, or quiet reflection… is where healing happens. THIS connection to yourself.

You don’t need an hour of solitude. You need a few consistent minutes:

  • A deep breath before the day starts

  • A quiet prayer in the car before pickup

  • A gratitude list before bed

  • A moment of stillness between transitions

When we create space to reconnect with our source—however you define it—we show up with more clarity, more anchoredness, more awareness, and more capabilities.

Navigating Holistic Immunity

Immunity isn’t just about avoiding illness—it’s about cultivating immunity within by strengthening our white blood cells defenses by arming them with nutrients and healthy lifestyle habits.

The fact is that more individuals have been turning to natural healing to protect and nourish their bodies. The question is:

Which holistic approach is right for me?

From subtle energetic therapies to herbal medicine, each modality contributes uniquely to your body’s ability to support, adapt, heal, and thrive. Let’s explore how these natural disciplines support your immune system.

Q: What’s the difference between Homeopathy and Herbology?

Homeopathy

It’s a natural way of supporting your body through the healing process using “remedies” consisting of a severely diluted form of “a substance”…. Just enough to stimulate the body’s immune system.

Instead of fighting against symptoms, homeopathy supports your body’s natural defenses.

Herbology

Herbs. Not dilutions of Herbs. Whole plants support immunity through tonifying, detoxifying, anti-inflammatory, or adaptogenic properties. For almost every Western medicine pill, there is a Mother Nature equivalent. Herbs such as echinacea, astragalus, elderflower, and reishi mushroom, nature has proven to be effective in supporting the immune system at every stage of immunity—prevention, defense, and recovery.

Q: How does Chiropractic care impact immunity?

The nervous system and immune system are deeply interconnected. When the spine is misaligned, it can disrupt this connection, creating interference in how the body organizes defense and healing.

Chiropractic adjustments restore alignment and nervous system clarity, which allows immune responses to flow with more ease and coordination. Regular care supports lymphatic flow, stress reduction, and greater adaptability—key components of immune health.

Q: Can Hypnotherapy boost my immune system?

Absolutely!!! Activating and connecting with your subconscious mind is the key to healing your body. Chronic stress, unresolved fears, and subconscious beliefs can quietly suppress immunity. Hypnotherapy helps you release the tension held in the mind and body, inviting a deep parasympathetic state, which is when healing begins.

It also strengthens mental imagery, where clients visualize their immune system glowing, protecting, and rebuilding—planting seeds that bloom in real, physiological ways.

Q: Where does Massage Therapy fit in?

Massage therapy does more than relax the muscles—it activates the flow of blood and lymph throughout your system. It stimulates lymphatic drainage, moves stagnant energy, encourages detoxification, and reduces the amount of stress hormones.

As tension releases and circulation improves, immune cells move freely, waste is cleared, and the body feels safe enough to restore. Getting massages regularly provides emotional relief as well, which is deeply entwined with our physical defense mechanisms.

Q: How does Acupuncture influence the immune system?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, immunity is governed by the flow of Qi (life force) through meridians. When Qi is blocked or deficient—especially in the lung, spleen, or kidney channels—the body becomes more vulnerable to imbalance.

Acupuncture activates precise energetic pathways, encouraging smooth circulation, enhanced energy, and organ balance. It harmonizes the internal environment, helping your system respond with clarity and calm when challenged.

Q: What’s the role of Naturopathy in immune support?

Naturopathy is a whole-person approach to healing, rooted in the belief that the body knows how to heal itself when given the proper support. Naturopathic guidance often includes food as medicine, mineral and plant-based supplementation, detox practices, circadian alignment, and emotional nourishment.

The immune system isn’t just a defense mechanism—it’s an expression of how well you’re living in tune with your body, your rhythms, and your environment. Naturopathy helps restore that harmony.

Q: Can Aromatherapy really influence immunity?

Yes—and beautifully so. Essential oils work on a sensory and cellular level, offering antiviral, antibacterial, and calming properties. Oils like frankincense, tea tree, and eucalyptus are immune boosters, while others like lavender are stress relieving.

Inhaling these plant essences in the form of diffusing influences the limbic brain, helping shift patterns of fear or tension while gently supporting respiratory and immune function.

Setting SMARTER Goals: How to Integrate Holistic Modalities for Sustainable Success!

Setting goals is an essential part of personal and professional development. But for goals to be sustainable and effective—especially in the context of health and wellness—they must be realistic, adaptable, and aligned with a your overall well-being.

In this article, I explore the SMARTER goal-setting model and provide examples of how to integrate holistic health practices into each phase of the process.

🧭 What Are SMARTER Goals?

The SMARTER framework builds upon the traditional SMART goal method by adding two critical components: Emotionally Charged and Rewarding. This makes the model more dynamic and suitable for long-term behavior change and personal growth.

Here’s what SMARTER stands for:

S – Specific.

M – Measurable.

A – Achievable.

R – Relevant.

T – Time-bound.

E – Emotional Charge.

R – Reward(ing).

📝Step-by-Step: Applying SMARTER Goals with Holistic Integration

S – Specific. The goal is clearly defined and unambiguous. Make it literal. Write it out. Vague goals like “be healthier” don’t provide direction.

✅ Example: “Walk 30 minutes every morning before work.”

Holistic Tip: Start your day with a mindful breathing ritual to center your intention. Let your morning walk become a moving meditation.

M – Measurable. Progress and outcome can be quantified or tracked. Track your progress. Knowing how far you’ve come keeps you motivated.

✅ Example: “Drink at least 1 glass of water daily for 30 days.”

Holistic Tip: Add slices of cucumber, lemon, or mint to your water for added hydration and digestive support. Track your intake in a wellness journal.

A – Achievable. The goal is realistic and attainable based on current resources. Stretch yourself, but be realistic. Goals that are doable build momentum.

✅ Example: “Attend one yoga class per week instead of seven when you’re just starting.”

Holistic Tip: Support your body’s physical and mental health with chiropractic care or massage therapy. Gentle alignment promotes endurance and prevents burnout.

R – Relevant. The goal aligns with personal values, priorities, or needs. Goals should align with your deeper priorities, values, or needs—not external pressures.

✅Example Goal: “Establish a calming evening routine to support deeper sleep.”

Holistic Tip: Use aromatherapy (lavender, vetiver) and journaling to unwind. When goals align with emotional wellness, they become more meaningful.

T – Time-bound. The goal includes a clear timeframe. Set a realistic timeline. Dates create urgency—but don’t forget to build in flexibility.

✅ Example: “Complete a 21-day gratitude journaling challenge by the end of the month.”

Holistic Integration: Replace screen time with restorative practices such as journaling, breath work, or outdoor walks. These alternatives also support parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) activation.

E – Emotionally Charged. The goal should tap into your emotions. Motivation increases when you feel connected to the outcome—especially when it’s rooted in something personal.

✅Example: “I want to improve my energy so I can be more present and patient with my children.”

Holistic Integration: Self care. Massage, craniosacral and hypnotherapy monthly… this is how parents do it!

R – Reward (and rewarding 😉). Completion or milestones are acknowledged and celebrated.

Celebrate milestones—big and small! Rewards activate joy and fuel forward momentum.

✅ Example: “After two weeks of consistent stretching, book a reflexology session or enjoy a nature walk.”

Holistic Tip: Let the reward support your wellness. Choose experiences over things—your nervous system will thank you.

Integrating Holistic Modalities to Achieve Your Goals

Once your goals are set, it’s time to support your journey from the inside out. Holistic modalities help you regulate your nervous system, enhance focus, and stay connected to your purpose. Here’s how to integrate them:

🧘‍♀️ 1. Mindfulness and Meditation

A clear mind creates a focused path. Daily mindfulness—whether through meditation, breath work, or quiet reflection—reduces stress and keeps you aligned with your intentions.

Try this: Start your morning with a 5-minute intention-setting meditation using HypnoNapp💤. Visualize your goal and imagine it already complete.

✍️ 2. Journaling & Visualization

Journaling is a powerful self-awareness tool especially when combined with hypnotherapy. Write about your “why,” track your emotions, or reflect on progress. Create a vision board or write a daily affirmation that embodies your goal. Your subconscious mind will help guide your actions.

🌱 3. Nutrition & Hydration

Your body is your vessel. Nourishing foods and proper hydration impact clarity, energy, and emotional regulation—all critical to staying motivated. Incorporate grounding herbal teas (like tulsi or chamomile) to support calm and clarity.

💆‍♂️ 4. Bodywork and Energy Healing

Practices like chiropractic care, craniosacral therapy, acupuncture, or massage can release stored tension, enhance vitality, and bring your body back into alignment. When your body feels safe and supported, your mind follows.

💫 5. Affirmations and Hypnotherapy

Your internal dialogue shapes your reality. Replace self-doubt with empowering affirmations or explore hypnotherapy to reprogram limiting beliefs.

“I am aligned. I am supported. I am achieving my goals with ease and grace.”

✨ Final Thoughts: Let It Be a Journey, Not a Sprint

Goals aren’t just destinations—they’re invitations to become more of who you truly are. By integrating holistic tools, you’re not just accomplishing tasks—you’re transforming from the inside out.

Honor the process. Nourish your body. Trust your timing, because the best version of yourself doesn’t come through force—it unfolds through alignment.

Peace and Light,

Dr. Mary
